Coombe Fisheries Ltd is a leading seafood processor based in the South West of England. Founded in 1980, it has achieved consistent growth by developing and sustaining long-term partnerships with both customers and suppliers.
Everyone at ProjectLink was delighted when Coombe contacted us to build a facility to double their capacity for packing, freezing and temperature-controlled storage. We delivered a programme of work worth £4 million to secure their place as a premier seafood processor in the UK and globally.
We designed the entire building, secured planning permission and managed the construction process from start to finish. A series of high-end modifications were installed in the 21,000-square-foot building to ensure streamlined food handling processes. Three blast freezers, which are capable of freezing 90 tonnes of seafood from five degrees to -20 degrees in just 20 hours, were installed, as well as a spiral and tunnel freezer, temperature-controlled production area and a holding freezer with the capacity for up to 650 pallets.
In addition to the work space, we also added collection of modern offices and welfare facilities for staff, while ensuring that the building complies with Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology (BREEAM) – the world’s longest establish and most used method for assessing, rating and certifying the sustainability of new buildings.
The design and planning process was handled sensitively, ensuring nearby companies would not would not be inconvenienced during the construction process or by the finished building.
