SOHO Coffee Co is an independent coffee and fastfood retailer that has outlets in high-profile locations, including shopping centres, UK & international airports, motorway services, hospitals, leisure centres, holiday resorts and children’s indoor play centres. Above all, SOHO values quality food, organic and Fairtrade coffee and excellent service.
During a period of significant expansion, they asked us to revitalise their food production facility in Cheltenham in order to increase production capacity.
Following a thorough review of their facilities, we proposed the idea of developing a new site within a refurbished building on the same trading estate in Cheltenham. We provided a plethora of plans to ensure that all possible eventualities were covered and split the work into individual phases, so that SOHO could control the project’s timescales, without affecting production.
Once plans were approved, we immediately commenced the construction of the internal infrastructure. This comprised ambient warehousing, freezing and chilling rooms for incoming products, production and cooking areas, and temperature controlled storage to keep the finished goods fresh, prior to distribution to their own stores. We also installed high-performance hygienic wall and ceiling systems, which are essential for meeting today’s food
Pleased with the detailed designs that we’d provided at the initial stages, SOHO also asked us to provide construction-phase health and safety plans and building control approvals.
It took just two months from the approval of the final design to completion of the project. The swift turn-around allowed SOHO Coffee Co. to benefit from an almost immediate boost to their production and distribution capacity, as well as ensuring an uninterrupted supply of sandwiches, muffins and coffee for SOHO-lovers everywhere!
